Description
Discover Berlin on this exciting canoe tour that is suitable for beginners. Before you get started, put on your lifejacket and the guide will lead a short paddling course. Then canoes are lowered into the water and the fun begins! Paddle closely together, as the tour guide tells you about interesting places along the river bank. The river Spree widens significantly a few kilometers southeast of the city center, with picturesque bays and small islands. Many remnants of the former GDR are still visible along the river banks. See how change and urban development intensifies as you paddle from the Funkhaus around the tip of the Stralau peninsula with the small village church in the Rummelsburg bay. Discover exciting information about the notorious Stasi remand prison which was once located there. On the opposite side of the river, See the remains of the Spreepark theme park and its Ferris wheel. Listen to the adventurous story of the fairground operator, Norbert Witte, who ran the park after unification. You also paddle past the almost 100-year-old Klingenberg power station. At the end of the tour you can relax at the milk bar, where drinks are still served in the original East German atmosphere.
