Description

Discover the city of Potsdam on a 6-hour excursion from Berlin. The tour begins at the Zoologischer Garten S-Bahn station, where an expert local guide will lead you on a 45-minute train ride to the historic city and stroll along its elegant streets. Known as the city of the Kings and Kaisers, Potsdam was home to the vast Prussian Army, as well as some of their most famous palaces. Begin your journey with a visit to the Glienicke Bridge, famously known as the Bridge of Spies for its Cold War history. Stroll through the charming Dutch Quarter, passing cosy brick houses, and learn about Potsdam's transformation from a fishing town to a city of palaces. Located just outside the city limits of Berlin, the garrison city was the jewel of the Prussian Empire. Since German reunification in 1990 Potsdam has thrived. The baroque streets have been beautifully restored, and the city is proud to be the state capital of Brandenburg. Your guide will tell the stories of Potsdam’s dramatic growth, thanks to the efforts of 4 generations of exceptional kings, through to the 2 world wars that sealed the fate of Europe and the world in 1945. The tour ends at Potsdam’s famous Sanssouci Castle. If you would like to venture inside on your own, your guide will show you how to avoid the lines, and get the best-priced tickets.
