Description

Start your tour at the Reichstag Building which is a well-known monument that homed the Reichstag of Nazi Germany (also called the Imperial Diet) until 1933. It is now the German Parliament and a place that witnessed history. You will visit the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe which is also known as the Holocaust Memorial, the site is a memorial of the sad events that happened to the Jewish victims during World War II. There, you will see 2,711 solid stelae of 2,38 meters long and the Place of Information containing the Jewish victims' names. The next step of this tour is one of Hitler's last headquarters used during World War II, the Fuhrerbunker and the place he took his own life. It was also his home and the main spot of the Nazi regime during the end of the war. You will walk by Detlev-Rohwedder-Haus which was considered at the time as the biggest office building in Europe, the Detlev Rohwedder House was the head office of the German Ministry of Aviation during World War II. It is now the seat of the German Finance Ministry. As we continue, you will come across the Topography of Terror, an indoor and outdoor museum. Here, you will wander around the crimes committed during the Nazi Period. The exhibition mainly focuses on the Schutzstaffel and the police of the Third-Reich, but also the Propaganda of Terror. Walk by the Albrecht Palais, also known as Niederkirchnerstraße, you will walk on the street that was the location of the Reich Main Security Office. You will see the front of the Martin Gropius Bau museum, the Abgeordnetenhaus, and the modern style Europe-Buddy-Bear! Next, you will come across Anhalter Bahnhof with its sumptuous architecture. The former railway terminus will astonish you by its outdoors and its history. At 600 meters long, it was one of the most important railway stations in Berlin. During World War II, it was used for the deportation of 55,000 Jews in concentration camps. Finish your tour at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, a protestant church built in the 1890s. Damaged during the bombing of Berlin, it has been rebuilt to become a monument of today. Affectionately named the hollow tooth, the old damaged spire has been retained, and the first floor of the church has been made into a memorial gallery.
