Beaches and Swimming Pools
Built in 2004, the Badeschiff gives bathers the impression of swimming in the River Spree without any of the hazards. The pool itself, well known in Berlin for its individuality, is made from a converted hull of a ship, and measures 8 metres by 32 metres. The pool is 2.08 metres deep, so children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The Badeschiff is part of the larger Arena Berlin complex, which is also home to table tennis, football and gym equipment.
The pool is open daily from 8am to midnight, and admission is €5. The area around the pool includes a bar and locker facilities - though no food or drink is allowed in the pool itself. On weekends, DJs play tunes outside the pool to create a party atmosphere.
