Die Stachelschweine
Berlin
Cabaret
Theater
This theater started as a collective under the auspices of an association of young artists. During the 1948/9 Berlin blockade they started Prohibition style theatre featuring political slapstick and have continued this theme into their contemporary and popular theatre events.
In spite of a complex, even zany history of changing owners, bankruptcies and relocation to the Europa Centre on Tauenstrasse 9, the ensemble has visited Israel, New York and Los Angeles with great acclaim.
For some years the theatre was used as a workshop and rehearsal stage for TV but since 1970 its now back in the live event business, complete with a bar and restaurant. Mostly in German, it is recommended that non German speakers check with Die Stachelschweine prior to the shows.
