Krematorium Berlin
Berlin
Religious Buildings
Built between 1996 and 1998, this stunningly designed building boasts a main entrance hall, the high hall as it is sometimes called, surrounded by four separate modern chapels. 29 large concrete columns seamlessly emerge from the floor and reach through the ceiling of the hall creating shafts of natural light surrounding interesting water feature pools on the floor. Outside, some of the stark concrete walls are slowly being covered in ivy, which gives it a softer feel than the concrete would naturally allow.
When you visit this crematorium, you'll find yourself standing in a simply beautiful, modern and geometrically pleasing place where ceremony and tradition are still sacred.
