Kunstgewerbemuseum

Museum of Decorative Arts

Decorative arts is the production of crafts that are both beautiful and functional. The Berlin Kunstgewerbemuseum is the best place to get your fill of detail on the most intricate and beautiful of functional objects.

The collection includes magnificent reliquaries made of gold and precious gemstones, exquisite vases of glass and porcelain, finely embroidered textiles, ornate inlaid furniture, and classic examples of modern industrial design.

The permanent and special exhibitions hosted by the Kunstgewerbemuseum can be seen at two locations in Berlin: at the Kulturforum near Potsdamer Platz, and in the picturesque setting of Schloss Köpenick on an island on the river Dahme. The Schloss Köpenick site features masterpieces of interior design from the 16th to 18th centuries.

In 2017/2018 the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts is celelbrating it's 150 year anniversary! Because of this the museum will hold a series of exhibtions which look back at the beginnigs of the museum and the building that houses it.

Museum is open daily 10 am - 6pm, closed Mondays
