The Berliner Staatsoper Unter den Linden, has an illustrious history with many of the world's finest singers, musicians, conductors having graced the stage. In 2010, a massive renovation was undertaken which should be completed in 2015. In the meantime the company is performing in their temporary home at the Schiller Theater in Charlottenburg.
There is something on stage at the Staatsoper almost every night of week with a vast amount of repertoire from early music to contemporary commissioned works. Compared to the opera companies of many other countries, tickets to the Opera in Berlin, and indeed Germany in general, are very reasonably priced with tickets starting at around €20.
We highly recommend the Berliner Staatsoper. Their outstanding musical and artistic standards combined with their pricing make them the perfect company for both first time attendees and opera aficionados. Subject to availability, students under 30 can purchase last minute tickets for €13 from 30 minutes before each performance.
