For Kids
Unlike an observatory which shows you actual stars through a telescope, a planetarium is actually a projection of the starry sky onto a giant domed screen. Unaffected by clouds or weather you can sit back in a comfortable seat and gaze at the planetarium dome. The state of the art projection technology makes you feel like you are always at the centre of the the action. Marvel at the beauty of the universe as you are taken on a journey through the world of astronomy.
Opened in 1987 in the former East Berlin neighbourhood of Prenzlauer Berg it was only in operation for 2 years before the fall of the Berlin Wall made its future uncertain. Nowadays it is part of the Berlin Museum of Technology, ensuring that future generations will be able to enjoy this amazing experience.
