City Tour
Private Tour
Context Travel set themselves apart from the run of the mill tour operators in Berlin by providing a much more cerebral and in-depth experience. In fact, they eschew the word 'Tour' in favour of 'Seminar', an apt title, given that they are led by professors, academics, and researchers from the fields of history, architecture, environmental science, urban planning, art history and cuisine.
The seminars run by context travel are deliberately focused on specific topics pertinent to the German capital. Berlin is a large city with an incredibly broad and complex history so seminars are broken up into fields of study that allow for a much deeper level of understanding than could ever be achieved with an 'overview of Berlin' style tour. Groups are kept deliberately small, allowing for a much more personalised experience as well as ensuring that the negative influences of tourism on the city are kept to a minimum.
Topics include: Divided City: Berlin in the Cold War; Jewish Berlin; Life and the Afterlife at the Neues Museum; Topography of Terror, Nazi Berlin; Walking the Wall; Berlin Art Scene; Kreuzberg: From Counter-Culture to Culture Capital.
